Walks.IO is an outdoor activity planning service for discovering the beautiful open spaces and heritage sites which are located within easy reach from the location of user. It uses artificial intelligence (ant colony simulation) and open data for generating circular walks of a given length that attempt to go within the most scenic paths. This project will use existing historic and cultural land use data in rural areas of Britain to create a sense of place to inform on sustainable planning opportunities. It will allow affordable housing development on contentious area of 'green-belt' where incomers and second home owners have driven the housing market beyond the reach of locals.
