We are going to produce a toolkit that will equip individuals, communities, Housing Associations, Community Councils, schools, business, as well as campaign groups to play an active role in improving and ensuring delivery of high quality routes that connect communities to each other and the places they work and play. All neighborhood information in one place

We believe that Smart Cities cannot exist without smart citizens. And smart citizens are those who employ data to make decisions about their life and living environment. But nowadays only few people use it, because it takes time and knowledge to understand this data. we want to create a single platform for all necessary information about neighborhoods and a platform for communities discussions about the changes that has ...more »

Holistic House Search : Thinking beyond the purchase price!

The affordability and suitability of a property should be measured in more than simply it's rental or purchase value and we intend to create a web-service that does just this. For example, it may be that by living 2 miles further from work housing costs (rent, tax) are significantly reduced, but transport costs are increased. So what is the overall cost of living in that property over a 10 year period? Also add into ...more »

Beyond the Red Line

Research reveals a lack of understanding amongst practitioners, professionals, housing providers, and developers of how neighbourhoods can be transformed to provide better places to live. Despite there being no shortage of research or guidance from the built environment sector on what makes a better place to live, there is little evidence that this guidance is actually being put into practice. As we have limited land ...more »

Turning Old Places into Future Spaces

There is a huge amount of previously developed land that is available for redevelopment across the UK. The opportunity for sustainable reuse is on a national scale. We will develop a national-level, publicly available web portal that enables individuals and groups to search for land and/or property that is available and suitable for reuse, either as temporary (meanwhile) use or sustainable development.

Found a Site - Who owns it?

There are countless derelict buildings and plots of land around the country both within urban areas and in rural areas which scream out I need TLC. As a nation we have concerns regarding greenbelt developments and have a massive housing shortage, but allow the empty house to exist and builing plots within urban areas to become overgrown and unsightly. many families would jump at the chance to own such a site or building ...more »

Online Tool for Derelict/Rundown Buildings

There are plenty of derelict and run down buildings in parks, community spaces as well as streets which need investment and local community love. The problem is how do people know where they are what the local community level of demand is to renovate them. This is particularly relevant for local authorities

I WOULD LIKE in my area//How can we IMPROVE your area

Many online improvement services are effective but constrained, initiatives such as Fix My Street focus upon issues with existing infrastructure rather than suggestions for improvements. “IWLINM” allows anyone to suggest something new in an unconstrained manner, be it a disabled ramp up some steps, a corner shop to buy newspapers, some tree planting or maybe even a suggestion to rename a street. These suggestions can ...more »

Land Insight

Its very difficult to find land for housing development. Undertaking an initial site assessment is a necessary part of any land search but is very time consuming and technical to undertake. It involve understanding the local area prices, what risks are associated with a piece of land, what is the planning history of a site, what is the site boundary and who owns it. Much of the information is in the public domain but ...more »

How can we enable people in Britain to live in better places?

In My Back Yard (IMBY)

We can all live in better places simply by getting involved. We all know the empty, unloved corners of our neighbourhoods. It might be that derelict building down the road, the empty garages around the corner, the unused car park at work or even the large overgrown garden next door. Well curse and swear no longer. Whether you are a land owner, a neighbour, a potential self-builder or simply a passer by, you can help ...more »
