On the 14th August 2006 my son Christopher drowned at Capel Curig aged 15. Since then I have set up River And Sea Sense to educate children as to the dangers of water. See www.riverandseasense.com and also www.watersafetymap.co.uk The new Wales Coast Path creates a need for joined up communications, to ensure safety, provide informations on locations for assistance and social interaction. There are certain risks to ...more »

An application which allows the users to easily locate different geological sites and fields of activity along the coastal path.
We aim to attract new visitors to Wales by making a mobile application (GEM) linked to a central web interface to allow challenge/learning games to be developed freely by strategic partners. The games would follow the format of Treasure hunt/orienteering exercises providing an engagement with younger generations. The application would be sold through the android and iphone store for a nominal fee but licenses to create ...more »
The ‘Caban’ system can provide comfortable accommodation at appropriate locations along the Coastal Path without permanent development – www.vistacraft.co.uk. It can operate on uneven ground with difficult access such as woodland or rocky terrain and be completely removed when required. It will be possible to offer shelter and facility ‘hubs’ along the route on existing campsites or more remote sites. Underpinned by ...more »
Based on the idea of the Japanese viewpoint. where, for instance, the 'Philosophers Path' Kyoto with its temples, shrines and memorials have points to view the cherry blossom of Spring, the greens of summer, maple reds in Autumn, snow in winter. It has become one of the most important tourist spots in Kyoto . For here, you walk and stand at the right place to view the harmony and beauty of nature where all things are ...more »
My idea is to create an online route planning website to help walkers on the Wales Coast path, by offering route information from campsites and other accommodation on-route, local shops, tidal information, pubs & cafes, toilets, camping shops, points of interest, drinking water availability, public transport links etc. Having all this information in 1 place would make it a valuable resource for backpackers and walkers ...more »
This project would enable all schools to become part of the coast path, which might be right on their doorstep, maybe allowing a school to monitor a stretch of the path near their school and then post photos, videos of their section, opening the path up to the whole world.
It would cover and involve many parts of the national curriculum, geography, ICT, English, Welsh, maths, science to name but a few
Proposal is to create a number of augmented reality films of sites throughout Wales. They would be from different historic periods.
We all love a good story, local legends, amazing incidents, tales of ghosts or something really funny. Right along the Welsh coast path I am sure there are loads of fabulous stories, that I for one, would love to visit and hear. This idea is to create a story telling platform, where stories can be uploaded and given a location. Story tellers can use their best creative skills to tell their story in their own unique way, ...more »
Marketing Campaign. We want to encourage visitors to the paths and beaches during out of season months, and give local businesses the opportunity to maximise income beyond the tourist season.
Create an ultra race that will be regarded with the same respect as the Trans-Alpine, Tour de Geants, Marathon de Sables (MDS) etc. Given the dramatic and continued rise in outdoor activities such as trail and ultra running, this is the perfect time to capture the opening of the Wales Coastal Path by launching an amazing new endurance challenge onto the calendar. The race will attract an international audience, can ...more »
A participating scheme and initiative that relies on local businesses to promote the coastal path in Wales and attract more visitors to it.
Local festivals and events are the result of local people working together to celebrate the often-unique identities of their communities and will bring year-round variety to the Wales Coast Path besides walking. Their transient nature, however, brings many challenges if they are to be promoted as part of the Wales Coast Path experience and mashed with other data to gain economic outcomes through tourism. Today’s technologies ...more »
Create a mobile app designed to record when mobile signal is lost. This would allow the Welsh Authority to identify black spots and upgrade the network; hopefully with one of the ideas listed on this site.
There is no one cohesive database. This mobile phone app / website would feature the information from a number of agencies. Allowing the Tourist Board to promote a mobile phone app primarily, website secondary, that would allow tourists a thorough reach into the past.
